Hello and welcome to Nancy’s Quilt Designs, home of the Whirlwind Whiz.
Nancy Wilson owes her love of arts & crafts to her mother, Becky. She taught Nancy how to sew, knit, embroider, macramé at a very early age, instilling a love of trying new crafts and experimenting with techniques that has lasted a lifetime. She is so grateful for this gift and enjoys passing on what she has learned.
Quilting is a fairly recent endeavor for Nancy. She made her first quilt about 7 years ago and it has been no-stop ever since. Quilting has been a perfect way to combine her passion for creating art and her engineering skills. Her BS in Chemical Engineering served her well in corporate world for 25 years and now she uses the organizational, detail-oriented, and problem solving skills when developing quilting patterns.
In addition to her patterns, she has developed a series of quilting classes and projects to teach various techniques for all levels of quilters. One day while trying to develop an easier way to make quarter square triangles for a whirlwind block, she invented the Whirlwind Whiz. With this new tool 4 identical quarter square triangle pairs can be made by sewing 2 squares together! It eliminates the frustration of sewing the individual triangles together.
The Whirlwind Whiz can be found on the Products Page. The tool and companion patterns are sold online through this website. They are also available in some quilt stores. Wholesale customers are asked to contact Nancy to set up an account.
Nancy also has a fondness for realistic art quilts and is developing patterns based on nature and outdoor activities. She has many ideas brewing in her brain and is excited about bringing them to live very soon. Please stop back often to check on her progress.
