What a great day! New fabric has arrived! My husband and I own a small farm in Upstate New York. We have a dog, a horse and 17 chickens. In the past we also had goats and a couple of cows. For this reason, I am always on the lookout for fabric with a farming theme. I was really happy to find “Down on the Farm”. I love the pictures of jams, jellies, and canned vegetables in this fabric. I can’t wait to make some place mats or a table runner with this and its companion fabrics.
Here Fishy Fishy Fishy. When I was growing up, my family and I spent time every summer in the Thousand Islands camping and fishing for bass, pike, sunfish, and pike. This fabric (Aqua Bass Fish) brought back lots of wonderful memories. I still love to get away for a week to fish (even if it means setting aside my quilting). The fish in this fabric are very realistic and I bet the fisherman or woman in your family would love to have a quilt or even a pillowcase made with this fabric. Check out the companion fabric that I have selected that match the browns, greens, and iridescent colors in the fish.
White Large Floral
Most of the quilters I know are also gardeners. We seem to crave floral fabrics. I have a couple of new ones for you. I have yellow, pink and green companion fabrics to go with Black Floral. The red and grey fabric that looks great with Down on the Farm also goes perfectly with White Large Floral.
I have just highlighted a few of the new fabrics here. Be sure to check them all out by clicking HERE. Now I just need to decide which fabric to feature first in a new pattern. Too many choices, so little time. Enjoy and Happy Quilting!
Well with my show season finished for 2013, I have had time to work on a couple of new patterns. Both of them use the small Whirlwind Whiz to make the triangle pairs with ease. They are easy enough that you can wipe them up in time for the holidays. The first one is called “Snowflake Star”. It is a 20″ square quilt that can be used as a table topper or wall hanging. Click on the title to see the pattern details.
I used the same block to make a 19″ x 43″ table runner. That pattern is called “Starry Night Table Runner” . Click on the title to see that pattern!
With all the wintery weather we have been having I chose to use snowflake material as the featured fabric. I have made up some kits which include the snowflake, blue and white material you would need for the quilt tops and binding. Just add the batting and backing.
We made it to Paducah and we are excited to be in the quilt capital of the world. Our first day yesterday was great and we are looking forward to the rest of the show. If you are coming to Paducah, be sure to come in and see us at booth 6204 in the Finkel building at 200 Kentucky Ave.
We are on our way to Cincinnati for the International Quilt Festival show. We will be demonstrating the Whirlwind Whiz all day during the show. If you are going to the show, stop in at Booth 1014 and say hello! We will show you how you can save tons of time on your next quilt with the Whirlwind Whiz tools.
This week we are in Lancaster PA for one of the best shows of the year. If you are in the area, stop in and visit. We are in Booth 3309. The show hours are form 9-6 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and 9-5 on Saturday. Hope to see you there.
I invented the Whirlwind Whiz tool to enable quilters to make 4 identical quarter square triangles from squares. I love triangles and the whirlwind block, in particular, but I didn’t want to have to sew all those quarter square triangles … Continue reading →
